CUCUMBER CULTIVATION

Production of cucumbers in Italy is around 120,000 tons. The most important regions are Latium (which provides around 20% of the national product), Venetia (17%), Apulia (16%), Campania (14%), Sicily (11%), Calabria (5%) and Emilia-Romagna (3%).
The most widespread varieties are Legend, China Long, Yamato Three Feet and F1 hybrids such as Granex, Rocket, Pepinex for long crops; Marketer, Market more, Chioggia Mezzo Lungo, Polignano Mezzo Lungo, President, Sensation, Sprint for middle sizes; Paris small green, Pioneer, Wisconsin SMR 18 for small fruit varieties.
