RADICCHIO CULTIVATION

Although radicchio is grown in many regions of northern Italy, it is mainly cultivated and developed in Venetia given the considerable crop specialization of local farmers.
Radicchio is currently classified based on the characteristics of the plant, especially its color and the shape of its leaves.
This gives us the group of red radicchio, with deep red leaves: this include the Treviso Red, Verona Red and Chioggia Red. The group of variegated radicchio has leaves with stripes of various shape and intensity: these include the Castelfranco Variegated and the Chioggia Variegated.
